I'm very excited that you've become a part of The Acoustic Guitar Project. I think, with your help, this will become something very special.

Whoever gave you the guitar probably filled you in a bit, but just in case they didn't, here's how it works. You have one week to record an original song using only the guitar and the H2 Zoom recorder included in the guitar case.

Please don't edit your song or add effects. Also, don't use any other instruments. Keep it simple – just you and the guitar. I'm very confident that is all you need to create something from the heart.

When you're done, give the guitar to another musician.

Please put as much creative energy and thought into choosing the next musician for this project as you do into your song. Who is the right person for this, right now? Maybe it's someone who just learned to play guitar. Maybe it's someone you heard playing on the street. Maybe it's a musician friend that needs some inspiration. Maybe it's a really talented person that you've always admired, and this is your opportunity to let them know. Maybe it's someone you haven't even met yet. What's most important is that your choice has a meaningful intention.

Who will be most affected by your gift?

I only ask one thing: please don't pass the guitar on with the intention of getting something in return. Also, give someone the right to say “no” to the project.

Please read the instructions before you begin. They explain how to send your song (and photo) to me. I also want to hear the amazing story about who you choose to give the guitar to, why and their reaction.

And don't forget to sign the guitar when you're done!
